  • The Golfer, by Peter Howson, a framed charcoal drawing with watercolour highlights, signed and dated ‘06. Arguably depicting Australian golfer Greg Norman the most successful athlete-turned-businessman in the world. This internationally recognised “Great White Shark” won more than 90 tournaments worldwide, including two British Open Championships.

Currently he is involved in a great deal of controversy because he is recruiting some of the world’s best golfers for the Saudi- backed breakaway LV Tour (it’s called LV because tournaments are played over 54 holes and LV is 54 in Roman numerals.)

The artist, born in London in 1958, moved to Scotland in his childhood and enrolled in the Glasgow School of Art in 1975. He has built a reputation as one of his generation’s most formidable figurative artists and demonstrates an enduring ability to represent religious scenes in the manner of the Renaissance masters, whilst infused with a modern perspective.
